Thanks so much Shane - I was doubtful about the make and model and had heard my father's first car was an Austin - but that would have been a lot smaller than the car in the photo, I think. Now since your comment I've looked at pics of the Morris 8 and am sure you're right.
Hello Rosemary, I run a website in the UK (www.prewarminor.com) and can absolutely confirm that William's car is a 1934 Morris Minor Two-seater. With your permission, I would like to use the photograph in our Image of the Week spot on the website's home page. These cars were exported all over the former British Empire and plenty ended up in South Africa with one or two still surviving there. Regards, Chris
