I have been able to do quite a lot of research using NAAIRS, Ancestry, Fam Search etc. He was wrecked as above in 1863 and was working as a butcher when he married his first wife EM Pullock in 1870. His residence at the time was given as Farm Langefontein (currently Hillcrest area).
